When I first looked at this garden it was an unused sloping patch of lawn with a small amount of concrete paving. My client wanted a garden that was both colourful and enjoyable to be in, while also being manageable and attractive to birds, insects and other garden wildlife.

To do this we separated the garden into three levels, divided by generous borders filled with a range of trees, shrubs, grasses and herbaceous plants, mostly chosen for their benefit to wildlife.

 

My clients now use the garden regularly and enjoy time spent looking after the plants too.
